Accessibility statement

This platform is built to be usable by everyone, including people who rely on assistive technology. We target WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

What we do

  • Full keyboard operability with visible focus indicators throughout.
  • Every chart has a “view as table” toggle, an accessible label, and a visually-hidden data table, so figures are never image-only.
  • Colour is never the sole carrier of meaning; our categorical palette is colour-blind-safe (Okabe-Ito).
  • Text meets AA contrast on the warm-neutral theme; numbers use tabular figures for legibility.
  • Motion respects prefers-reduced-motion — animations are reduced or removed when you ask your system to.
  • A “Skip to content” link is the first focusable element on every page.

Honest about data, too

Accessibility includes being honest about what the numbers mean. Figures carry their source, year, geography, sample size, and uncertainty (prediction intervals and confidence). See the glossary for plain-English definitions and the equity dashboard for what the data can and cannot yet show.

Known limitations

  • Some complex visualisations are best explored on a larger screen; all expose a table fallback on any device.
  • This is an evolving research platform — if you hit a barrier, we want to fix it.

Feedback

Found an accessibility barrier? Please reach out to the project team at Thompson Rivers University so we can address it. We treat accessibility issues as bugs.

This statement reflects the platform's current development state and is reviewed as features ship.
